SIGNING BOOKS
Here are the three of us (Caroline Author, Deb Editor and Helen Illustrator) signing books at the Maternity and Midwifery Conference for both Educators and Students (running concurrently) at Leicester University. These Conferences are wonderful. Free of charge. Good Exhibitions – excellent speakers, well worth going to.
Our next Maternity and Midwifery Conference where we will be signing more books is only next week in Edinburgh at Murrayfield on Tuesday 26th November - look up Maternity and Midwifery and book a place. At the end of the Conference at 4.30pm there will be a meeting of the Association of Radical Midwives, come and see what they have to offer.
As far as I can ascertain the Association of Radical Midwives (ARM) is the only midwifery organisation in the UK which supports Afghan Midwives who have been stopped from working, their support Group helps Afghan midwives leave Afghanistan and go to Pakistan or Iran to live and work. (Well done Deb Hughes).
It is the only midwifery organisation in the UK which has a support group for midwives going through the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s vicious and cruel procedures – well done Deb Hughes again!
It is the only midwifery organisation that has written a comprehensive report on bullying within the profession and delivered it to the House of Lords – well done Amanda Burleigh.
ARM has a comprehensive and clear vision for the future of the maternity services – the reason for the brevity of this Newsletter is because I am waiting to hear from ARM what we should all be writing to our MPs, coming soon I hope
ARM works with volunteers and has no funding, it gets an amazing amount done. Come and find out about it on Tuesday 26th November at 4.30 pm at Murrayfield.
Then our next jaunt is on Saturday 30 th November when we will be signing books at Edinburgh Book Shop , 176 Bruntsfield Place from 2pm – 3.30pm, come and have a chat. Look at this wonderful new bookshop full of fabulous books.
Then book up for the next Maternity and Midwifery Conference on Tuesday 11th February at the Royal National Hotel in London where we will be book signing again.
